A large museum with three storeys surfacing different themes, the Oakland Museum of California is a favorite attraction among visitors all year round. Its third floor contains the museum's art, while the second is known as the 'history' level. The base floor is coined as 'natural sciences' and contains a special gallery of its own. A souvenir shop and restaurant are also available at the Oakland Museum of California, as well as a koi pond and the James Moore Theater.

Chabot Space and Science Center

A full-dome digital project system, Chabot's Ask Jeeves Planetarium in Oakland provides clear images that surface the whole 70-foot / 21-meter dome and immaculate audio. Seating 240 individuals, it features live and prerecorded shows. The Telescope Makers' Workshop is open to all and teaches people how to build their own telescopes (open on Friday nights from 19:00 to 22:00). Take a break at the Celestial Café, with a menu that includes salads, sandwiches and desserts.
